Anstr Davidson is a former trail and ultra runner who was among those who founded the Bull Run Run 50 Miler (BRR), the Massanutten Mountain Trails 100 (MMT), and the Virginia Happy Trails Running Club (VHTRC) in the 1990s .

Anstr is from southern California, but has spent most of his running life in Arlington, Virginia.  In the 1980s, Anstr ran in trail races put on by Ed Demoney (the Massanutten Mountain Massacre 50 and Old Dominion 100), Dennis Herr (the Wild Oak 50 miler), and David Horton (the Mountain Masochists 50 miler).  He also ran frequently with an informal group on local trails.  That informal group ended up creating the BRR 50, MMT 100, and the VHTRC.  Anstr has been involved in the management of these and the club until recently. His major contributions were to the club’s website, its unique entry system, race timing, and race results and reports.  For five years, he was the race director of the Bull Run Run 50.  In 2017, Anstr and Chris Scott, who was the creative genus behind the BRR, returned to direct the 25th anniversary of BRR.

Anstr was a middle of the pack runner who finished 100 milers and several shorter distances including finishing the JFK 50 30 times in a row.  He doesn’t run much now.  He has moved on to work with the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club, which maintains most of the trails that runners in this area use
