Running in the Columbia Gorge

Scouting out the Gorge Waterfalls 100k course

I won't be seeing all these falls on race day because I already missed a turn

The first fairy slipper
Running has been good.  I've been getting around the forest a lot and have been welcomed by some early flowers.  That fairy slipper is about a month ahead of usual because of all the warm dry weather.  But it will get wet soon...at least in Georgia.  I'll be running the Georgia Death Race on Saturday so if you want to follow along I think that the race is supposed to be on Ultra Sports Live.  The Death Race is supposed to have 40,000 vertical feet of change over 68 miles which will make it one tough run.  I haven't run anything this hard and long this early in the year so we will see how that goes.  I'm feeling good though so I hope to have a really solid run out there.
After the Death Race, I'm planning to run Gorge Waterfalls 100k two weeks later so I will have to recover quickly after I take on the Death Race.  Gorge Waterfalls 100k is a Montrail Ultra Cup race so the top two runner get an automatic entry to this years Western States 100.  That is definitely a goal of mine but I will have to see how the next couple weeks go.
No matter what happens though, I'm going to take a few weeks easy after I race 130 miles in two weeks.  Really excited to get going, I'm heading out to Georgia tomorrow.
