Nejc KUHAR and Mojca KOLIGAR win Slovenia’s Grintovec Mountain Race

Press release written by WMRA General Secretary Tomo Sarf.

Kamnik/Slovenia – The 19th edition of the Grintovec Mountain Race was held today in Kamnik/SLO. Nejc KUHAR and Mojca KOLIGAR, both Slovenian Mountain Running Team members, won the race. Hot weather with high humidity in the Kamniska valley at 600m and runners more friendly conditions in the upper part with the summit at 2552m did not allow record times. Nejc Kuhar was 5 minutes slower from his Slovenian course record, set in 2015. More than 200 runners from 12 countries participated the event.

This extreme mountain running race, where in only 10km runners have to beat almost 2000m elevation gain, was also a part of the Mountain Running World Cup for several times. The neighboring Velika Planina, with the same LOC chaired by Dušan Papež, hosted the World Championships in 2010 and European Championships in 2017.

Next year, the event is celebrating it’s 20th anniversary.
